ALAMBIQUE MAXICANA: CARIOCA CACHAÇA GUARANTEES NEXT DAY WITHOUT HURT!

Today we are going to tell you about the famous MaxiCana Still, the still that produces distillates without a SURF!

Drinking freely and waking up without a hangover later may seem like a distant dream, but know that this is possible! Better yet, the person who developed the cachaça that allows this feat is Brazilian and Carioca – and has a still in Rio de Janeiro.

S2RIO will take you there! On the “Praia, Cachaça e Futebol” tour, you will get to know beaches of Rio’s West Zone, the incredible CBF Museum and the MaxiCana Still. More info here.

HISTORY OF THE MAXICAN ALAMBIQUE.

After losing a friend to Cirrhosis, civil and metallurgical engineer Antonio Augusto researched a lot about the effects of alcohol.

He discovered cases of cirrhosis in children in the United States, and was intrigued that children don’t drink, so how was that possible? It turns out that what causes cirrhosis is copper in distillates (ranging from 2 to 5 milligrams per liter), which eventually absorbs the metal because it is stored in copper casks.

After 2 years traveling in Europe and studying the distillation processes of scotch whiskeys with very low copper rates (the best in the world is around 0.2 mg / L), Augusto developed a method for obtaining spirits from wood stills. , which not only reduced the copper rate to zero (that’s right, ZERO!) but also reduced the formation of heavy alcohols above ethanol. These alcohols take a long time to process by our body, which causes the so famous and hated hangover.

In other words, the MaxiCana Alembic offers a totally pure cachaça, harmless to your health and unique in the world! It is located in the Jacarepaguá neighborhood and has been operating for 25 years, being the only still in Rio de Janeiro. The cachaças produced by them are very light, and the effect of alcohol goes fast too – no shame after several drinks!

The MaxiCana brand produces some famous cachaça in Brazil that you have probably seen somewhere: Gabriela, an aperitif cachaça made of cloves and cinnamon or Gamel, a beat of honey and lemon.

Not to mention the various other flavors, such as acai, cappuccino, chocolate, banana and so on! One of the selling points where you can find the MaxiCana cachaça is at São Cristóvão Fair, but it is worth having the unique experience of visiting the Alembic itself.

The area where the cachaças are produced has a tasting shop and the restaurant Brisa, which is very popular. In addition to the various dishes and delicacies, it is worth tasting the famous caipirinha of the house or some of the other various drinks.

There is also a play area, barbecue, natural water pool (!!), pool table and soccer field. That’s a good thing together, isn’t it? A good choice is to go early to enjoy the day, have lunch at Brisa and have a few drinks without fear of hangover!
