Built during the 19th century as an Aquetuct, the 42 arches transported the water from the Rio Carioca to a fountain in the Center of Rio de Janeiro. Made of Portuguese stones, the Arches of Lapa represent a tourist symbol of the city and today is part of the path of the famous bondinho (tram) of Santa Teresa

The “Escadaria Selarón” is one of the most visited tourist spots in Rio. With 215 steps covered in colorful mosaics, the staircase was named after the chilean plastic artist Jorge Selarón, who left a beautiful gift for the city of Rio. After the visit of the famous American rapper Snoop Dog, the staircase became famous worldwide.
