The historic Copacabana Palace

Today I will tell you about the Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro.

With almost 100 years of history, Copacabana Palace is one of the most charming and well-known hotels in the world. When it opened, it was one of the only accommodation places in the city facing the sea. And right in front of the Copacabana Sea … one of the most charming beaches in Brazil. Before the construction of the palace, there was only one large beach. Copacabana had few buildings, more residential houses. Soon the building became a structure that attracted attention at that time, as it differed from the rest of the structures.

The hotel was created to receive guests of the centenary of the independence of Brazil. He was known for welcoming world famous people, kings, millionaires and consecrated artists. One of the most striking figures of the hotel was singer Mick Jagger, who stayed there for a mega show that the Rolling Stones gave at Copacabana beach to more than a million people. There was even an improvised bridge between the hotel and the stage, which attracted a lot of attention. Other English figures known as Prince Charles, Princess Daiana and Madonna were also there.

A long time ago, celebrities such as Walt Disney, Orson Welles and even Santos Dumont, who was one of the first to sign the hotel’s gold book, stayed at the Copacabana Palace.

The architecture of Copacabana Palace follows the Mediterranean style. It was developed by architect Joseph Guire, following the pattern of hotels in the French Riviera. It is a beautiful building, worth visiting, even if it is outside.
