Get to know Pico da Tijuca

Today I will tell you how to get to the top of Tijuca.

The peak of Tijuca is in the Tijuca forest that permeates each city and is more in the center of it. The entrance to the park for this specific climbing is in the Afonso Viseu Square, located in the Alto da Boa Vista region, between the Tijuca neighborhood and the Barra da Tijuca neighborhood.

You can get there by taking a bus from any of the neighborhoods to the other. 301 and 302 are good options. Another option is to go by car or Uber since from the beginning of the park to the beginning of the trail, there is a great walk that you can take by car. The roads inside the park are excellent for biking since the asphalt is good and you will be in the middle of the forest.

If you are going to walk from the park entrance to the beginning of the path at a light pace, it will take approximately one hour, which is also the time the path takes.

The Tijuca peak is the highest point in the park, it is 1021 meters high. Moderate path well signposted and with little exposure to the sun. At the end of the road you will find a staircase carved in stone with 117 steps, which is the steepest part of the route.

The peak of the Tijuca peak is discovered, sometimes it is very difficult to stay there when the sun is very strong. We recommend that you go one day that has some songs, it will probably improve your experience. Also, don’t forget your sunglasses and sunscreen, plus some snacks and lots of water in your backpack.

The trail incites 4 km. From above, you will have a unique view of the city of Rio de Janeiro, being able to see virtually all regions of the city, including the Christ Redeemer Pedra da Gávea Niterói and much more.
