In 1891, Santos Dumont became interested in the area of mechanics, focusing mainly on the internal combustion engine. This was after a trip he made to Paris with his family. From that year, Santos Dumont began to study, perfecting his English in England.
The following year, Santos Dumont entered the area of motor racing and also began technical-scientific studies.

From then on, Santos Dumont continued to experiment and specialize more and more in his projects. He won his first prize in 1901, the Deutsch Prize that awarded him the first person title to design, build and fly the first gasoline aircraft.
From 1905, Santos Dumont began to slowly leave the area of the aircraft and work on projects focused on the aviation area, outlining the construction of gliders, helicopters and airplanes.
