Among the wonders of Rio de Janeiro are its trails, considered among the most beautiful in Brazil. The landscapes, which are already beautiful at sea level, become even more incredible from the highest points of the city.
If you are visiting Rio or even if you are a carioca who has not ventured yet, take the backpack, some fruits and a bottle of water, do some stretching and come to know the 5 favorite trails among tourists and locals.
PEDRA DA GÁVEA
This 800 meters high rock, which used to be a reference for navigators, today offers a beautiful view of the Rio de Janeiro coast to the brave trekkers who can stand the 3 hours of walking. The trail to Pedra da Gávea is long and heavy, so if you’re not used to it, go with an experienced guide. The hardest point is at Carrasqueira, where it is necessary to climb an almost straight rock wall using feet and hands.
S2RIO will take you there! On the tour you will have an experienced guide and climbing material for the carrasqueira, all to ensure a safe and quiet ride. More info here.

Time: 3 hours
Distance: 1.7 km
Height: 842 meters
PEDRA DO TELÉGRAFO

You have probably seen some of the thousands photos where people seem to be hanging on a towering cliff. In fact, the famous photo is an illusion that you get by choosing the right angle, and hiding that you can actually stand at the bottom of the Anvil Stone.
The path of this trail is well signposted and easy to follow alone, eliminating the need for a guide. Enjoy the view from all lookouts!
Let’s take a really creative photo there? The S2RIO takes you in very comfortable transport, air conditioning and guide. More info here.
Time: 1 hour
Distance: 2,3 km
Height: 345 meters
PEDRA BONITA

If you want to make a trail with almost the same view of Pedra da Gávea, but without carrasqueira, we recommend Pedra Bonita. From there, besides the incredible look, you will be able to see the Pedra da Gávea itself, which is a spectacle, and the hang gliders and paragliders that jump from the ramp. It is very worth it.
Let’s take that selfie to keep in memory? S2RIO will take you there! More information about the tour here.
Time: 1 hour
Distance: 1.5 km
Height: 539 meters
CHOOSE FROM THE 5 MOST SEEN TRACKS IN RIO DE JANEIRO
We seek to choose those trails that will provide you with the most interesting and differentiated views of the city of Rio. We also opted for those that are more trendy, better known. Enjoy! :]
MORRO DA URCA

We have reached the Urca district, one of the largest climbing centers in the world! This trail is very facinha and full of history – here was built the first fortress of Rio de Janeiro in the sixteenth century to contain maritime invasions.
At the beginning of the path you will need to climb a staircase made of logs, and soon after you will reach the access gate of Morro da Urca (attention to the time, as it closes at 18h).
Remember that the Rio de Janeiro City Tour of our company goes there! In addition to the Sugar Loaf, you will visit the Christ, Maracana, Selarón Staircase and other points. Get in here and check it out! :]
Time: 40 minutes
Distance: 1.1 km

BICO DO PAPAGAIO

The Parrot’s Beak certainly has the most beautiful view of the huge Tijuca Forest. It is a very central point in the park. From there you can also see the North Zone of Rio, as well as the Serra dos Orgãos, which divides Petrópolis and Teresópolis. The view of God’s Finger from there is beautiful!
S2RIO will take you there with an experienced guide and comfortable transportation to the beginning of the trail. More info here.
