6 NITERO BEACHES THAT ALL TOURISTS SHOULD KNOW
Who lives in the Marvelous City likes to joke that the best of Niterói is the view of Rio de Janeiro. But the truth is that even Cariocas cross Guanabara Bay from time to time to enjoy one of the beautiful beaches that Nikiti offers. If you are going to spend some time in Rio, be sure to check it out too! Here’s a list of 6 beaches worth visiting in Niterói:
1. CAMBOINHAS BEACH – NITERIO’S BEST BEACH
Oceanic continuation of Itaipu Beach, Camboinhas has very fine clean sand and very transparent waters, acquiring that greenish hue that gives a paradisiacal air.
On site you will see many hobbyists as well as boaters. Be sure to enjoy the seafood served nearby, they are wonderful!

Something that can not miss is a beautiful lunch with the fabulous view of Camboinhas Beach. It is really fantastic!
2. ITACOATIARA BEACH – A FAMOUS BEACH OF NITEROI RJ
Much sought after by surfers and bodyboarders, this beach has strong waves and very clear blue waters. “Itacoatiara” is a word that comes from Tupi and means “Inscribed Stone”. The landscape is beautiful, but the length of the beach is not so great: only 700 meters. In its right corner, the rock formation protects a small area of the waves forming the “Prainha”, perfect area for children to have fun.
3. PRAIA DO SOSSEGO – A SECRET NITEROI BEACH!
Another small beach, located near Piratininga Beach and hidden between the Ponta dos Morros and Ponta Pé de Boi rock formations.
Access by land is a bit complicated, so it is often accessed by speedboats and boats. In the early 80’s the most frequent people tried to take advantage of this difficulty of access to turn Praia do Sossego into a nude beach, but they were not very successful. Its clear sands and green waters have a very short length of 250 meters, accompanied by a very diverse vegetation.

The best way, without a doubt, is by taking a walk. We recommend this one. By taking a walk, you won’t have to worry about the way to the sights, which are distant and complicated to reach by public transportation.
4. PIRATININGA BEACH – A BEAUTIFUL NITEROI BEACH.
The first beach in the oceanic region of Niterói, Piratininga (from Tupi “Fish Drying”) ends up being the largest beach in the area because it comprises the junction of two beaches: Praião and Prainha. Together they are 2.7 kilometers long and have relatively calm waters.
From the little beach, you have the view of the famous Pedra da Baleia, in Praião the good are the kiosks – be sure to try the seafood dishes!
5. PRAIA ADÃO E EVA – ONE OF NITEROI’S BEST BEACHES, ACCORDING TO MANY.
Another beach area formed by two distinct beaches. Although they are two beaches of Bahia, being close to Jurujuba, they end up mixing some of the ocean waters.
Depending on the tide and current, it constantly varies between clean and dirty. They are beautiful beaches anyway, even if it’s just for relaxing and watching the landscape.
6. PRAIS DE BOA VIAGEM – ONE OF NITEROI BEACHES
Small expanse of sand, over only 450 meters. Not very suitable for bathing, what is worth more here, as well as the duo Adam and Eve, is the landscape: you will see the Cardoso Islands and Boa Viagem Island, as well as the iconic Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói (MAC) – one that no one decides if it is a cup, lotus flower or flying saucer. Whatever it is, it’s still beautiful!
